20.07.2007 - Captain’s Pack & Map & Updates from Felix
Check it out - it’s the Captain’s Pack! And the final schedule! Also, here’s a nice Google Maps map showing you how to get to the venue from the train station, where the pitches are, etc.
Pickups:
ABH and Halcyon are going to be short on players this weekend, and I’m sure would appreciate random pickups throughout the weekend. So, if your team is huge and some players need a bit more action, don’t hesitate to ask ABH/Halcyon about picking up. The schedule is such that if you can pick up for them for one game, you can pick up for them the entire day.
Food:
Some people are asking if the food cost is included in the tiny entry fee - it is not, but the food prices will be very reasonable…
probably £2 for each meal will sort you out. Free Red Bull on Sunday, too. There isn’t a cashpoint nearby so PLEASE BRING ENOUGH CASH to be able to keep you going for the weekend. There will also be copies of the UNO2006 DVD on sale for £9 each, find out more at http://www.pushpass.co.uk, and remember to bring extra cash if you might purchase a copy.
First aid:
I’ve contacted the red cross and they have said there will be a couple of first aiders around for the duration of both days. However, I have my suspicions that they won’t actually show up (even after speaking to the guy on the phone), so please bear this in mind (maybe bring a team first aid kit, and be ready to drive to the hospital). Safety first and all that!
Rugby post holes:
It’s a set of rugby pitches we’re playing on, so we’ll be covering the post holes with discs at the start of the weekend. These tend to disappear over the weekend, so please be aware and cover the holes if you see they are uncovered at any point - we will also check them on Sunday morning.
Friday night:
There will be about 80-100 people turning up on Friday night! The bar will be open and hopefully the GSK table will be ready for a bit of practice, there won’t be any food though so here are the takeaway options again:
Lewes Spice (curry) 01273 472493 - 32 Landsdowne place - nr station
Dragon house (chinese) 01273 477397, 34 Landsdowne Place - nr station
Pizza Express 01273 487524 - 15 High street
Charcoal grill (Kebab / pizza) 01273 471126 - 61 High street
Camping is open on Friday and is just over the bridge near pitch 2.
Please keep the gate closed!
If all goes to plan we should have some arrows up on the roadsigns to help you navigate to BB2007 from Friday 7pm-ish. They will look like this but with arrows drawn on them:

OK please forward this info onto your team (esp. about cash/food!) and get in touch if there’s anything more you’d like to know.
Cheers,
Felix
13.07.2007 - Schedule
Here’s the latest tournament schedule - please note this is subject to change so keep an eye on your email for updates.
11.07.2007 - 10 days to go!
Hey all,
Only 10 days to go until Brighton Beyond! Everything’s shaping up here at the tournament - we’ll be having a Red Bull tent with free drinks on the Sunday and we’re getting all the food sorted with good veggie (& even vegan) options (food will be provided for Saturday & Sunday breakfast, lunch, and Saturday night BBQ which will mostly likely run into Sunday too).
What I need from you folks now:
- are you coming down on Friday, to enjoy the bar & the camping? Note we aren’t providing food on Fri evening but ARE serving breakfast on Saturday morning, so we definitely need an idea of numbers for this - get in touch! I hope to see everyone there on Friday night, even if
you have a 10:30 Saturday start, but you gotta let us know if you’re coming!
These numbers might come in handy for Fri night food (rest is provided by us):
Lewes Spice (curry) 01273 472493 - 32 Landsdowne place - nr station
Dragon house (chinese) 01273 477397, 34 Landsdowne Place - nr station
Pizza Express 01273 487524 - 15 High street
Charcoal grill (Kebab / pizza) 01273 471126 - 61 High street
- enter your GSK teams! Email evil.ben.666 at gmail dot com with three
players & a team name
- don’t forget to bring along any music you want played during the evening
- let me know if you need pickups, as there are a couple of teams on the waiting list!
10 days!
Felix
BB07 TD
ps. don’t forget it’s mixed - I have a lingering fear some team will turn up without bringing any women - nightmare!
28.06.2007 - Less than a month to go!
Hey all,
Brighton Beyond is now under a month away, so it’s time to start gathering your team and working on your GlaxoSmithKline skills!
Everything with the venue is shaping up - we have 4 pitches filled with 16 teams, camping on-site, 24hr facilities, breakfast, lunch and dinner on-site too, plus an on-site bar, pitchside music, and plenty of alcohol to buy during the day.
If you need pickups then get in touch with me as there are a few players in need of a team. If you’re down to just a small handful of players then also let me know because we have a couple of teams on the waiting list with whom you could combine forces.
For a full list of the 16 entered teams (with pictures for most - send one in if yours is missing!) see the Teams page.
The GSK World Championships 2007 will work like this:
A team now consists of three players. To enter, send a team name and roster to Evil - evil.ben.666 at gmail dot com - who will put you on the list (free entry of course). Depending on numbers, you’ll play a qualification round on Saturday, and then the top handful of qualifying teams (judged on time) have about ten minutes on Saturday evening to show the crowd what they got. The winners will be determined by a panel of judges taking into account time, finesse, and improvisation. There will be an official stopwatch on hand to record any world record times, but GSK won’t dominate the whole evening - if someone really wants a particular party tune then bring an ipod / MD / CD to play at the party.
Find video directions to the BB venue here.

By Car: From A23 take the A27 East towards Lewes. At the first roundabout turn left into Lewes. After 1 km at the traffic lights next to prison turn right down steep hill (ignore the ‘Access only’ for HGV’s and coaches) follow road left and right up to the ‘Swan Pub’ (mini-rounabout), turn right and Stanley Turner is 200 yards on the left just after crossing a road bridge.
That’s all for now - a schedule and captain’s pack will follow closer
to the time!
Let me know if you need pickups / to combine with a team on the waiting list soon… this is going to be great…
